PROJECTS
Igor Urruchi has brought together a team of Cuban and Spanish creators for this project, including writer Reinaldo Montero, composer Federico Mosquera and graphic artist Juan Carlos Pérez. The show will be premiered as part of ESCENARIO PATRIMONIO festival on September the 19th 2020, and will be followed by a presentation and two more performances in Miranda de Ebro (Spain) one week later (see full AGENDA below).
The show brings together original music composed by Igor Urruchi and Federico Mosquera and the animated and dramatised projection of the series of paintings Palo tras palo (Stick after stick) created by José Manuel Fuentes the last three years of his life. Music, texts and pictures are an intimate reflection on the passing of time, love, Nature, beauty and death from a profoundly vital perspective.
José Manuel Fuentes (Miranda de Ebro, 1955-2003) chose wood as a figurative element to express his grief, his vitality and his anger at the proximity of his death at the age of 47. The marked expressiveness and quality of his work together with his unique career - he happened to be a completely self-taught artist - justify this homage, which has artistic value in itself.
Igor was close to the artist and maintains tight ties with his family. This allowed him to develop this ambitious project with a personal approach and full creative freedom.
